Public Sector People are working with a council in Southwest Sydney who are seeking a Parks Assistant to join them.
Join a dedicated team that helps keep our parks, nature strips, and open spaces beautiful, clean, and safe for the community. As a Parks Assistant, you'll be hands-on in maintaining the Council’s outdoor spaces – from mowing and landscaping to cleaning park amenities and operating equipment.
5 month contract
38 hours p/w
$35.15ph + super
Hi Viz Jacket and Safety Shoes required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain parks, nature strips, and open space areas to Council standards
- Operate plant and equipment including ride-on mowers, brush cutters, edgers, blowers, and hand tools
- Collect litter and clean public amenities as required
- Identify and report landscape maintenance issues
- Perform risk and hazard assessments, taking corrective actions when necessary
- Support the Crew Leader to meet service requirements and timelines
- Ensure compliance with relevant acts, regulations, and Council policies
- Attend team meetings and contribute to ongoing improvements
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
- Experience in parks and open space maintenance
- Experience operating outfront/ride-on mowers, tractors, and turf maintenance equipment
- Sound understanding of WHS principles
- Ability to complete physical outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Certificate in Horticulture, Landscaping, or Greenkeeping
- First Aid Certificate
- RMS Traffic Control Certificate (‘Traffic Controller’ or equivalent)
- Chemical Users Accreditation Certificate (or equivalent)
