Grounded in values of trust, respect, excellence and kindness, the organisation is in a period of continued growth and evolution. Recent expansion, including the acquisition of another company in Tasmania, has further strengthened its national footprint and created an increased need for scalable, compliant and future focused corporate functions.
Within this context, payroll plays a critical role not just operationally, but as a key enabler of workforce integrity, compliance and organisational performance. This has created an opportunity for a capable leader to step in and transform how payroll is delivered across the business.
About the Role
The Payroll Compliance & Transformation Manager is a pivotal role within the Finance function, reporting to the National Manager Finance.
While the role itself was introduced recently, this is effectively an opportunity bringing in the right leadership to the organisation.
The environment is complex, with multiple enterprise agreements, legacy processes and varying practices across states.
- Audit and uplift payroll processes, particularly following recent organisational growth and acquisition activity
- Establish robust governance frameworks to ensure compliance, consistency and risk mitigation
- Lead transformation initiatives, including system improvements, automation and process redesign
- Drive standardisation across a currently manual and fragmented payroll environment
This is not just about technical payroll expertise, it’s about creating a fit-for-purpose, scalable payroll function that supports a national, values driven organisation.
About You
You’re a payroll leader who has experience stepping into environments that need structure, clarity and uplift.
You bring a strong track record of:
- Identifying gaps and inefficiencies and taking initiative to address them
- Leading process improvement and transformation within payroll functions
- Navigating complex award environments and ensuring compliance
- Building governance frameworks and strengthening controls
Your leadership style is logical and collaborative, you can lead a team, influence stakeholders and bring people on the journey without ego.
Whether your background sits in Finance, Payroll or HR, what matters most is your ability to drive outcomes, uplift capability and deliver sustainable change.
The Opportunity
There is genuine opportunity here to make a meaningful impact:
- A true transformation role where you can shape the payroll function end-to-end
- Sitting within the leadership team, with visibility and influence
- A national organisation with strong values and purpose
- A supportive, down to earth culture with no ego
- Flexible working, with a collaborative, engaged team environment
- Location; Based in Melbourne or Hobart
This is not a “steady state” role it requires someone comfortable stepping into complexity and driving change from the ground up
Leadership & Environment
You’ll report to the National Manager Finance, a supportive, direct and pragmatic leader who is open to feedback and values transparency.
The broader team is long standing, collaborative and committed, and will benefit from clear direction, structure and leadership.
The expectation is someone who can complement this environment confident, straightforward, and solutions focused, without unnecessary hierarchy or ego.
