3-month Temporary Contract
Local Council - Western Melbourne
38 hours per week | Office-based
$50 per hour + 12% superannuation
Public Sector People is partnering with a well-established local council in Melbourne's western suburbs to source an experienced Payroll Officer for a 3-month contract, with a mid-July start.
This is a great opportunity to join a supportive People & Experience team and make an immediate contribution to payroll operations during a busy period.
The Role
Working within our client's payroll team, you will be responsible for:
- Processing end-to-end payroll transactions accurately and on time, in line with Council policies and relevant legislative requirements
- Maintaining and updating employee payroll data including timesheets, leave applications, and employment changes
- Performing routine checks and validations to identify discrepancies and escalate where required
- Providing first-level payroll support to employees and internal stakeholders, referring complex queries to senior staff
- Handling sensitive employee information with strict confidentiality in accordance with privacy legislation and data security protocols
About You
We are looking for a candidate who brings:
- Previous experience in local government, public sector, healthcare, or education
- A tertiary qualification in payroll, accounting, business, or a related field
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a payroll or related role
- Experience with PayGlobal is highly regarded
