This state department is seeking a passionate and proactive Student Engineer (Civil) to join their Corridor Management team within the Project Planning and Corridor Management business unit. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in real-world transport infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced professionals.
Responsibilities
Under the direct guidance of a Senior Engineer, you will:
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders through written reports, technical advice, and responses to public and ministerial enquiries.
- Assist with traffic and transport planning studies – investigating and analysing future upgrades on the state-controlled road network.
- Contribute to the development and review of regional infrastructure programs.
- Support the assessment of third-party works in the road corridor (including utilities, developments, and traffic control permits).
- Apply engineering standards and guidelines in the review and recommendation process.
- Provide technical assistance in traffic engineering, road safety, stormwater, and geotechnical issues.
Successful candidate
- Currently enrolled in their 2nd or 3rd year of a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), accredited under the Washington Accord
- A holder of a valid Class C driver’s licence
- Eager to learn, contribute, and make a real impact on Queensland’s transport future
- A strong communicator with an eye for technical detail
- Able to work effectively in a collaborative, supportive team environment
This Role is equivalent to PO1.1 under TMR EBA (PO1.4 if over 21 years of age).
Part-time 2-3 days per week during semesters and full-time during Uni holidays.
Candidates will be required to be currently enrolled in a second or third year of a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree accredited under the Washington Accord.
