About the Role
In this role as the Principal Engineer (Civil), you'll be tasked with, managing the planning and delivery of rehabilitation, maintenance, and safety improvement works across the region. This senior role requires strong project management capabilities, technical expertise, and the ability to mentor staff while coordinating with a wide range of stakeholders.
  
  
Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of infrastructure maintenance and rehabilitation projects.
  • Act as the Principal’s Representative on construction contracts and oversee procurement, tendering, and contract administration.
  • Provide high-level technical and engineering advice to ensure project success, value for money, and adherence to standards.
  • Monitor progress reporting, financial forecasting, and quality assurance.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of project documentation and ensure alignment with safety, environmental, and legislative requirements.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and the community.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff, including supervision in line with RPEQ requirements.
  • Champion safety and sustainability across all project phases.
  
  
The Successful Candidate
You are a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) with significant experience managing road infrastructure projects, from design through to delivery. You're solutions-focused, collaborative, and highly organized with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
  
You will bring:
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full lifecycle of road infrastructure projects, particularly in urban and high-speed road environments.
  • Strong understanding of contract administration, procurement processes, and tender evaluation.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, manage expectations, and address public enquiries.
  • Sound knowledge of project governance, safety protocols, and relevant legislation and standards.
  
Mandatory Requirements:
  • A four-year Washington Accord accredited Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia).
  • RPEQ registration (or eligible and committed to obtaining it).
  • Current Class C driver’s licence.
  • White Card (Construction Industry Induction).
  • Provision of suitable PPE.
  • Ability to pass a Criminal History Check.
