Public Sector People are currently partnering with a local council in Melbourne’s west seeking a Portfolio Performance and Scheduling Lead
to join their team on a temporary basis from 24th November 2025 through to 27th February 2026.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and integration of project schedules across the capital works portfolio, providing visibility of key milestones, delivery timelines, and resource needs. You’ll also be responsible for driving scheduling best practice across the organisation and supporting data-driven decision-making through integrated performance reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining a master portfolio schedule across all capital projects.
- Establishing consistent scheduling frameworks and uplifting project team capability.
- Coordinating forward capital works pipelines and funding requirements across 1-, 4-, and 10-year horizons.
- Preparing and delivering insightful dashboards and reports integrating schedule, pipeline, and performance data.
- Identifying and managing risks, resource conflicts, and schedule slippages.
- Representing the PMO in cross-functional planning forums and providing expert scheduling input.
- Tertiary qualification in engineering, construction, or project management, with experience in complex capital or infrastructure programs (public sector experience highly regarded).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project and Excel; experience with tools like Primavera P6 or Power BI is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate scheduling data into actionable insights.
- Proven experience in developing master schedules, risk analysis (Monte Carlo), and performance reporting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coach and uplift scheduling capability across teams.
