Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of road, drainage and civil construction projects across the capital works program
- Provide technical direction, engineering expertise and contract management support
- Manage project planning activities including scope, scheduling, budgeting and risk management
- Oversee contractor procurement, tendering, contract administration and performance
- Drive effective resource management across labour, plant and materials
- Monitor financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and the community
- Champion a high-performing, safety-focused culture across all construction activities
- Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, supervisors and field staff
- Ensure compliance with legislative, environmental and workplace health & safety requirements
- Deliver accurate and timely reporting on project progress, risks and performance
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across construction practices and processes
Successful candidate
- A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and eligibility for professional registration (e.g. RPEQ)
- Extensive experience in civil construction or maintenance, ideally within roads and drainage
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams within the road construction/delivery space
- Strong experience in project and contract management, including capital works delivery
- Sound financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate
- High-level planning and organizational capability, managing multiple priorities effectively
- Strong knowledge of construction standards, materials and engineering best practice
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health & safety and risk management
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to drive culture, performance and continuous improvement
