About the Role
As the Principal Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of multiple major building projects—from strategic planning through to construction, commissioning and handover. Working closely with school communities, delivery partners, and internal stakeholders, you’ll manage complex portfolios that contribute directly to the state’s investment in education infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver infrastructure projects valued between $5M and $100M, ensuring time, cost, and quality targets are met.
- Lead all stages of project and program delivery—scoping, procurement, design, construction, commissioning, and close-out.
- Ensure compliance with WHS, procurement guidelines, and the Project Assessment and Building Policy Framework.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal teams, service providers, schools, and community stakeholders.
- Provide high-quality, politically sensitive reporting and briefings to executives and government stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement through process innovation and strategic planning.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to capability development across the unit.
The Successful Candidate
- Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure projects of $5M–$100M, ideally within government or education.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, policy frameworks, WHS, and procurement practices.
- Proven success leading diverse teams and building trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with an ability to produce executive-level reports and briefings.
- Strong understanding of the Project Assessment Framework and/or Building Policy Framework.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Building and Construction, or a Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, or a related discipline.
This is a long term contract opportunity at one of the states largest state departments which will allow you to work on some of the states most meaningful projects.
