As the Principal Project Coordinator, you will lead the planning, procurement, delivery and commissioning of infrastructure and construction projects ranging from approximately $1 million to $100 million in value.
You will work closely with consultants, contractors, project managers, clients and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with organizational objectives, governance requirements and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of complex infrastructure and capital works projects from planning and design through to construction and practical completion.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, risks, procurement activities and resource requirements to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Coordinate and oversee multidisciplinary project teams, including consultants, contractors and external delivery partners across multiple concurrent projects.
- Monitor project performance, expenditure, milestones and reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with organizational governance and audit obligations.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, operational leaders, contractors, consultants and community representatives.
- Prepare high-quality reports, submissions, briefing notes and correspondence for senior executives and key decision-makers.
- Provide expert advice on project delivery, infrastructure planning, risk management and governance matters.
- Mentor and support team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives that improve project delivery practices, client outcomes and infrastructure performance.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with legislative, contractual, financial, safety and quality requirements.
About You
You are an experienced infrastructure or construction professional with a demonstrated ability to successfully deliver complex building and capital works projects in a government, commercial or consulting environment.
Successful Candidate
- Proven capability in infrastructure and project delivery, including building design, project management, construction delivery and/or contract management.
- Experience delivering complex capital works or infrastructure projects through all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to proactively drive projects, influence stakeholders and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to achieve outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and prepare professional reports, submissions and correspondence.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex and competing priorities.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of governance, risk management, compliance and accountability.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working on education, school or public sector infrastructure projects.
- Certificate III or IV in Building and Construction.
- Degree qualifications in Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, Engineering, Property Development or a related discipline.
- Experience working within government infrastructure delivery frameworks and procurement environments.
Mandatory Requirements
- A current and valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) must be obtained prior to commencement.
- A current and valid driver's license.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout Queensland, including regional and remote locations, with occasional overnight stays required.
- The role is primarily based within the Brisbane CBD Central Office.
