Public Sector People  are working with a government organisation within Brisbane who are seeking a  Principal Risk and Governance officer to join their team on a short term contract until January 2027. 

This role is critical to ensuring continuity of enterprise risk management, governance and reporting activities, while maintaining momentum on key organisational priorities.

The successful candidate will be expected to quickly establish themselves in the role, build effective working relationships with leaders across the organisation, and take ownership of existing work programs with minimal disruption to service delivery. Given the short-term nature of the engagement, we are seeking a candidate who can confidently step into a risk environment and contribute from commencement.
   
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Drive implementation of enterprise risk management, fraud and corruption risk frameworks, policies, and processes.
  • Lead enterprise risk management reporting and continuous improvement activities.
  • Plan, facilitate and lead enterprise risk workshops across the organisation.
  • Prepare high-quality Board and Committee reports on enterprise risk management initiatives.
  • Conduct process reviews and key control assessments to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Provide expert advice to leaders on risk identification, assessment, treatment, and emerging risks.

What We Are Looking For
  1. Demonstrated experience contributing to the implementation of the enterprise risk management framework and related initiatives.
  2. Proven ability to provide expert advice on risk monitoring and reporting.
  3. Support a positive risk management and performance reporting culture.
  4. Demonstrated experience preparing high-quality reports, Board papers, and related documentation.
  5. Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships and facilitate effective consultation processes.
Ability to apply a strong understanding of how systems, operations and processes interact to drive business outcomes.
