About Knox City Council

Knox City Council is committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure that supports a thriving and connected community. Through strategic investment in asset renewal and capital works, Council continues to enhance the liveability, safety and sustainability of one of Melbourne’s most diverse municipalities.
As part of the Engineering Services and Operations team, you will join a progressive and collaborative organisation focused on innovation, continuous improvement and delivering meaningful outcomes for the community.
About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Delivery Engineer to play a key role in the planning and delivery of Council’s civil infrastructure renewal and capital works programs.

Reporting to the Team Leader Construction Engineering, you will join a collaborative team of engineering professionals responsible for delivering projects that improve and maintain the city’s essential infrastructure assets.

Working closely with Council’s Strategic Infrastructure team, you will assist in identifying, prioritising and delivering renewal projects through a condition-based asset management approach. You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, from project scoping, planning and procurement through to contractor management, stakeholder engagement and project delivery.

The role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects including roads, road resurfacing, drainage, bridges, kerb and channel, footpaths, shared pathways, car parks and other civil infrastructure assets.

A key focus of the position is supporting the delivery of Council’s annual capital renewal program, contributing to long-term asset management planning and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.

This is a broad and varied engineering role suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple project types, balancing technical, strategic and commercial considerations while delivering practical outcomes for the community.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants and the wider community, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted working relationships across a range of stakeholder groups.

In return, Knox City Council offers a genuinely flexible and supportive working environment, including:
  • Fortnightly RDO
  • Tool Of Trade vehicle
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements
  • Strong learning and development culture
  • Attendance at industry conferences and professional development opportunities
  • Leadership and career progression pathways
  • Opportunity to work across a diverse range of civil infrastructure projects
  • Supportive, collaborative and progressive team culture
  • Modern council environment focused on continuous improvement
  • Rare opportunity to broaden your engineering experience across roads, drainage, bridges and civic infrastructure while learning from an experienced and highly supportive team
About You

You are a versatile civil engineer with experience delivering infrastructure projects and a genuine passion for improving community assets.
You bring strong project management capability, excellent communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

Importantly, you enjoy working across diverse project types and are comfortable managing all stages of project delivery, from administration and planning through to contractor management and project completion.
You will ideally bring:
  • Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience delivering civil infrastructure or capital works projects
  • Strong stakeholder and community engagement skills
  • Experience managing consultants, contractors and project budgets
  • Understanding of asset management principles and renewal programs
  • A collaborative, adaptable and solutions-focused approach
  • Victorian Engineering Registration, or advanced progress towards registration, will be highly regarded
This role will suit an engineer who enjoys variety, is open to learning new areas and can see the bigger picture while delivering high-quality project outcomes.
