Role: Project Engineer (Project System Representative)
Contract length: 6 months with the possibility of extension
Pay rate: $51.06ph + 12% super
Ordinary pay rate (38hrs): $51.06ph + super
Over time rate first 3 hours: $76.59ph
Over time after 3 hours: $102.12ph 
Hours per week: Between 38-50hrs per week
 
This QLD state department is seeking a capable and values-driven Project Engineer (Project Systems Representative - PSR) to support the successful delivery of road construction, electrical, and maintenance projects. This role will work closely with Supervisors and Project Managers, assisting with project coordination, systems management, and day-to-day operational support.
 
As the Project Systems Representative (PSR), you will support Supervisors and Project Managers by coordinating routine project activities and managing project systems. This enables leadership staff to focus on technical oversight and strategic planning.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling and coordinating project resources
  • Document control and compliance tracking
  • Procurement coordination and cost tracking
  • Monitoring project progress and preparing reports
  • Coordinating subcontractors, materials, and site activities
  • Supporting delivery of road construction, electrical, and maintenance works
  • Ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained across project activities
  • Maintaining accurate records and project documentation
  • Working collaboratively within a team to deliver projects efficiently
  • Ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety standards at all times
 
Successful candidate
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of road construction, electrical, or maintenance practices
  • Leads by example and sets high standards for quality and performance
  • Shows a strong work ethic and ownership of tasks
  • Works effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Maintains accurate records and seeks feedback for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrates confidence and sound judgement when making decisions
  • Understands when to escalate issues to ensure project risks are properly managed

Mandatory Requirements
  • A current Queensland "C" class driver's license (or equivalent)
  • A current White Card
  • Ability to perform manual labour in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to undertake reasonable travel to project site
  • Ability to work within a rotating roster including weekend & night shift work
  • Full PPE gear
 
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience in electrical works
  • Experience in road maintenance, construction, or similar field
  • Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) certification
  • Queensland "MR" license or higher
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for minor equipment maintenance
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Previous leadership or coordination experience
