This QLD state department is currently delivering a range of projects under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) Restoration and Betterment programs, and capital works projects across the Cairns district. These projects include soil nailing works, pavement repairs and strengthening, intersection upgrades, construction of new rest areas, full-width pavement rehabilitation and upgrade works, and road safety and resilience improvements.
  
To support the successful delivery of this growing and increasingly complex program of works, a Project Manager is required to provide technical engineering support to the RT Project Manager and project delivery team, with a focus on project quality management, compliance with TMR standards, and overall project governance requirements.

Responsibilities 
  • Managing and monitoring subcontractor performance, including plant operations, production outputs, and adherence to quality standards
  • Implementing and overseeing quality assurance processes, including inspections, hold points, testing regimes, and documentation (e.g. CivilPro)
  • Supporting programme development, tracking, and reporting, including identification and management of critical path activities
  • Facilitating effective communication and coordination between the Project Manager, site teams, and external stakeholders
  • Providing risk identification and mitigation strategies, particularly relating to technical delivery, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Assisting in the uplift of internal capability through knowledge transfer and mentoring of personnel
  
Successful candidate
  • Strong working knowledge of TMR specifications and quality requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in road construction and/or maintenance delivery, particularly within similar project environments
  • Experience in project and programme management, including use of systems such as SAP, P6 (or equivalent), Microsoft Office Applications (word, excel, outlook, teams) and CivilPro
  • Ability to operate autonomously while supporting team integration and capability uplift
  • Strong communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
