Public Sector People are working with a local council to recruit a Project Manager for a 6-month temporary contract assignment.

We are looking for an experienced Open Space Project Manager to join one of our local government clients, leading the delivery of a diverse portfolio of public realm and open space projects.

This position offers a hybrid working arrangement and the opportunity to play a key role in shaping community spaces that enhance liveability and wellbeing.

This is a hands-on project delivery role where you will oversee projects from initial planning through to completion, ensuring outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with Council standards.

The Role You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of a broad range of capital works projects, including streetscapes, parks, recreation facilities, and open space improvements.

The position requires strong coordination skills, technical oversight, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across the project lifecycle.


Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading project planning activities, including scope development, feasibility input, and design coordination.
  • Managing projects through the full lifecycle from initiation to completion.
  • Overseeing procurement processes and administering contracts in accordance with Council requirements.
  • Supervising construction works, undertaking site inspections, and ensuring quality outcomes.
  • Managing contractors, consultants, and service providers to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Liaising with internal departments, community stakeholders, and external authorities.
  • Monitoring project budgets, tracking progress, and ensuring effective financial control.
  • Preparing reports, updates, and documentation to support governance and decision-making.

About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Qualifications in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Civil Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and capital works delivery.
  • Proven experience successfully delivering infrastructure or open space projects within time, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Ideally, experience working within or delivering projects for local government.
  • A solid understanding of contract administration and contractor management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current driver’s licence.
