Public Sector People are seeking a Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner
to play a key role in shaping a proactive safety culture that supports the wellbeing of every team member at this Western Sydney Council.
About the Role
As the Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner, you’ll be a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, driving the development, implementation, and continual improvement of Council’s WHSMS.
You’ll lead initiatives that promote safety, injury prevention, recovery at work, and employee wellbeing—empowering staff to take ownership of their safety and the safety of others.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and support on all aspects of Work Health & Safety, workers compensation, and Recover at Work programs.
- Maintain and improve Council’s WHS Management System, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, codes, and standards.
- Act as the Return-to-Work Coordinator, managing rehabilitation and claims processes in partnership with our insurer and health professionals.
- Lead workplace safety initiatives, inspections, audits, and training to foster a strong safety culture.
- Partner with Health & Wellbeing Champions to deliver and continually enhance Council’s wellbeing program.
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar WHS advisory or partnering role within an operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of WHS and workers compensation legislation, codes of practice, and best practice risk management.
- Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and investigations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and WHS management systems.
- Local Government experience.
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
- Return to Work Coordinator qualification.
- WHS Auditing qualification.
