This key role will support the organisation’s commitment to workplace health and safety, delivering expert advice, proactive risk management, and continuous improvement across both field and office environments.

Reporting to the Safety Lead, you’ll provide specialist insight into safety systems and processes, ensuring robust governance, compliance with legislation, and the ongoing development of a strong safety-first culture. You’ll be responsible for the effective operation of the safety management system, analysis and reporting of safety data, and building trusted relationships across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with leaders to identify, manage, and mitigate OHS risks across diverse operational areas
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure timely reporting to regulatory bodies
  • Maintain and enhance the electronic incident reporting system
  • Coach and advise leaders on safety responsibilities and systems
  • Develop and deliver safety training, induction programs, and communications
  • Support the development, implementation and continuous review of safety and wellbeing frameworks
  • Contribute to key safety reporting, data analysis and governance processes
About You:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within complex or local government environments
  • Expert knowledge of OHS legislation, regulations, and best practices
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of an organisation
  • Skilled in managing competing priorities and driving positive safety outcomes
  • Exceptional communication, problem solving and data analysis skills
  • Strong systems capability and knowledge of safety platforms
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence required
This is a fantastic opportunity to take the lead in shaping a proactive and engaged safety culture within a values-driven organisation that makes a meaningful impact on the community.
