Public Sector People are working with the a QLD State Government Organisation based in Brisbane CBD who are seeking a Senior Data Governance & Privacy Specialist to join their organisation on a temporary contract through to the end of March 2027.
  
Lead the development of data governance and privacy frameworks that shape how information is managed across government, using your expertise in governance, stakeholder engagement and privacy impact assessments to deliver practical, high-quality outcomes.

  • A07 / A08 opportunity - Pay from $87, up to $102 per hour + super
  • Brisbane CBD, Queensland.
  • WFH - hybrid working arrangements available (pending performance and managers approval)

What's involved:
  
This is a delivery-focused specialist role that will help strengthen the approach to data governance, open data and privacy management while building organisational capability and supporting trusted information practices.
  
The Senior Data Governance & Privacy Specialist will undertake activities including:
  
Leading the development of data and open data governance frameworks, policies, procedures and associated artefacts.
• Developing governance standards, controls, templates, accountability models, guidance materials and supporting documentation.
• Partnering with information owners, system owners and subject matter experts to understand information assets and business requirements.
• Completing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), including privacy risk identification, treatment actions and practical recommendations.
• Supporting compliance with Queensland Government legislation, directives and policies including information privacy, information security and open data requirements.
• Preparing executive briefings, decision papers, status reports and recommendations for senior leaders and governance forums.
• Managing multiple workstreams while providing updates on risks, dependencies and delivery progress.
• Developing practical knowledge content, templates and handover materials to support ongoing capability uplift across the organisation.
  
  
About you:
  
  • Available to commence as soon as possible.
  • Demonstrated experience developing data governance and open data governance frameworks, policies, procedures and supporting governance materials.
  • Strong experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and documenting privacy risk treatment strategies.
  • Sound understanding of information governance, data management, records management, risk and assurance principles.
  • Previous Queensland Government or public sector experience is highly regarded.
  • Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing executive briefs, governance artefacts and guidance materials.
  • Able to work autonomously, manage multiple deliverables and produce high-quality
