Our client, a well-established and growing residential development and construction business, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team in a pivotal role that combines estimating, financial oversight and office-based project management.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded construction professional who thrives on accuracy, systems, stakeholder engagement and driving cost efficiencies across projects.

The Role As the Estimator, you will take ownership of the end-to-end estimating function while supporting broader project and financial management activities. You will work closely with senior leadership to ensure projects are accurately costed, efficiently managed and delivered within budget.

This role goes beyond traditional estimating, you will play a key part in supplier negotiations, financial tracking, reporting, and continuous improvement of systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities Estimating & Cost Control
  • Comprehensive review of plans and specifications
  • Full take-offs and project pricing
  • Budget preparation and tracking
  • Monitoring quotes and ensuring alignment with scope and budget
  • Issing and managing purchase orders
  • Identifying cost efficiencies and commercial improvements
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
  • Build strong relationships with preferred suppliers and trades
  • Negotiate pricing and establish long-term supply agreements
  • Liaise with consultants during DA and BA stages
  • Manage competing deadlines and stakeholder expectations
  • Conduct project wash-ups and continuous improvement reviews
Financial & Project Oversight
  • Track projects against budgets and forecasts
  • Participate in finance meetings relating to project costs
  • Provide reporting and insights to senior leadership
  • Drive process improvements across systems, structure and technology
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Construction Estimating (residential preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of the construction industry
  • High-level attention to detail and numeracy skills
  • Commercial acumen and financial awareness
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working with suppliers and negotiating pricing
  • High level of computer literacy (estimating and project tracking software experience highly regarded)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (desirable but not essential)
You are decisive, organised, commercially focused and confident in taking ownership of your work. You enjoy building relationships, improving systems, and delivering projects accurately and efficiently.
