The Opportunity
As a Senior Façade Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading façade engineering projects, providing technical direction, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality building envelope solutions that meet both architectural vision and performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering of advanced façade systems including curtain walls, structural glazing, unitised façades, rainscreen cladding and building envelope solutions.
- Deliver structural, thermal, acoustic, waterproofing and wind performance assessments for complex façade systems.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, construction details and design documentation.
- Manage projects from concept design through to construction and practical completion.
- Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, developers, builders and specialist façade contractors.
- Review shop drawings, undertake site inspections and provide technical support during construction.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical development of the façade team.
- Support client meetings, technical presentations and tender submissions.
- Ensure designs comply with the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards.
You'll be a technically capable engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges while building strong relationships with clients and project teams.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in façade engineering.
- Experience designing curtain walls, structural glazing, cladding systems, unitised façades and waterproofing solutions.
- Strong understanding of building physics including structural performance, thermal efficiency, acoustics and water management.
- Experience using STRAND7 or equivalent finite element analysis (FEA) software.
- Excellent knowledge of the NCC and relevant Australian Standards including AS1170, AS2047, AS3740, AS4654.2, AS1288 and associated façade design standards.
- Strong project management skills with experience delivering multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- CPEng status, NER registration or eligibility will be highly regarded.
