About Uniting Vic.Tas

Uniting Vic.Tas is a values driven community services organisation with a proud history of supporting people and communities for over 100 years. Working across Victoria and Tasmania, Uniting Vic.Tas delivers a broad range of services spanning housing, homelessness, family services, disability, mental health and community development, guided by a clear purpose: to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice.

Within this, the Housing & Property division oversees more than 1,500 properties. While most residential assets are managed through Housing Services, approximately 400 commercial and retail sites form a significant $200M+ portfolio supporting Uniting Vic.Tas operational and strategic objectives.

As the organisation enters the next phase of its 10 year Housing & Property Strategy, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced real estate leader to step into a highly visible and influential role.

About the Role

The Manager, Real Estate & Advisory sits within the Housing & Property division, reporting to the Head of Operations and forming part of the broader leadership team.

This role is responsible for the commercial component of Uniting Vic.Tas property portfolio, including offices, retail sites and service locations across Victoria and Tasmania. While housing teams manage community tenancies, this role becomes critical when properties are being acquired, divested, consolidated or repositioned in line with strategy.

You will act as Uniting Vic.Tas real estate representative, engaging and managing agents, solicitors and advisors to deliver transactions within approved governance frameworks. This is not a sales role, it is about commercial oversight, negotiation, leadership and ensuring the right expertise is engaged at the right time.

This role will play an important part in uplifting governance within the portfolio to allow for greater visibility. By improving lease management, formalising legacy arrangements and strengthening reporting.

The role leads a small team, including a Property Administrator and Commercial Leasing Coordinator and oversees workplace management at Uniting Vic.Tas CBD offices.

Stakeholder engagement is critical. You will work across various internal departments and service providers, while representing Uniting Vic.Tas with Synod Property Services, external agents, landlords and advisors. Confidence, diplomacy and commercial credibility will be key.

As an inhouse specialist and embedded in the organisation, you will be trusted to represent Uniting Vic.Tas with confidence, clarity and commercial credibility.

Looking ahead, Tasmania represents a strategic growth area. This role will contribute to acquisition strategy and explore alternative pathways to support long term expansion. This is a role for someone energised by strategy, comfortable navigating complexity, and ready to lead a clean up and uplift phase with confidence.

About You

You are a commercially sharp real estate professional with experience managing transactions, leasing and portfolio performance within complex environments. You understand acquisitions, divestments and commercial negotiation, and you’re comfortable operating within governance and budget frameworks

Your leadership style is pragmatic and grounded. You can assert yourself when required, particularly in multi stakeholder environments, while maintaining warmth and professionalism. You are agile, solutions focused and comfortable stepping into environments where systems and processes require strengthening.

You understand that this role represents more than commercial outcomes. You will be overseeing a portfolio that enable community services, working alongside experienced property professionals and church stakeholders, and contributing to a broader mission and strategy.

Your background may span commercial, regulated environments, what matters most is your judgement, confidence and ability to lead this space forward.

An Agents Representative Certificate is essential, with a full Real Estate Licence highly regarded. Tertiary qualifications in property, business or finance are desirable.
