Public Sector People are partnering with a respected local council in Melbourne’s inner south-eastern suburbs to recruit a Senior
People & Culture Business Partner
for a 12-month parental leave backfill, running from 30 June 2025 to 13 July 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional with a strong background in the public sector or local government
to step into a trusted advisory role in a progressive, community-focused organisation.
We're seeking someone with a strong case management and employee relations (ER) background, along with proven partnering and influencing skills
to guide and support leaders across the business.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead complex case management and employee relations matters, including performance management and workplace investigations
- Provide expert advice to managers across the entire employee lifecycle, including policies, procedures and industrial instruments
- Partner with senior stakeholders to develop and implement people solutions aligned with strategic and operational objectives
- Influence and coach leaders to drive positive outcomes and a high-performance culture
- Support the development and review of HR policies and ensure compliance with relevant frameworks
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive and values-led workplace
- Assist with strategic workforce planning through data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Proven experience in a similar role within local government or the broader public sector
- Strong knowledge of industrial and employee relations practices in a unionised environment
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- The ability to work with independence, discretion and sound judgment
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline
