Public Sector People are partnering with Georges River Council to recruit a skilled and customer-focused Senior Planning Advisory Officer. This is a key position for a planning professional who thrives on delivering excellent service and providing accurate and timely advice to customers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Coordinator Advisory & Specialist Assessment, your role will focus on:

  • Delivering expert advice on planning legislation, policies and development applications
  • Managing the duty planner service, pre-lodgement advice, and formal planning enquiries
  • Ensuring high standards for application lodgement and supporting the planning portal
  • Providing training and guidance to customer service staff
  • Preparing and issuing zoning (Section 10.7) certificates
  • Contributing to continuous improvement in advisory and assessment processes
  • Supporting strategic planning, policy development, and internal planning referrals
You’ll Bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or a related discipline
  • Sound understanding of the NSW planning system and application processes
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex planning matters
  • A passion for customer service and continuous improvement
  • Experience working in or with local government
  • Familiarity with heritage and court procedures (desirable)
