Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise civil construction and maintenance projects across roads, bridges and associated infrastructure.
- Coordinate and direct work crews, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
- Plan, monitor and continuously improve construction and maintenance activities, work methods and project outcomes.
- Manage the effective use and security of Council plant, vehicles and equipment.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and on-the-job training, including delivering toolbox talks and promoting a positive safety culture.
- Monitor project quality, productivity and performance, implementing improvements where required.
- Prepare project plans, reports and progress updates while maintaining accurate records.
- Monitor project expenditure and provide timely advice on budget performance and any significant variations.
- Assess team performance, identify development opportunities and support employee performance management.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, Council policies, environmental requirements and quality standards.
- Build positive working relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and the community to support successful project delivery.
Successful candidate
- Demonstrated experience supervising civil construction or maintenance projects, particularly within roads, bridges or transport infrastructure.
- A qualification in Civil Construction Supervision or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, coordinate resources and deliver quality outcomes.
- Sound knowledge of construction methods, specifications, plans and maintenance practices.
- Experience managing project budgets, monitoring expenditure and reporting on project performance.
- Well-developed planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and lead diverse work teams.
- A commitment to workplace health and safety and continuous improvement.
- Basic computer skills and experience maintaining project and operational records.
- A current C Class Driver License.
