1 Year Contract, Potential for Permanency | Inner Melbourne Council
Full-time | Hybrid working arrangement | $153,000 + 12% Super
Our client, an Inner Melbourne council, is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Accountant to join their Finance team on a 1 year contract with genuine potential to convert to permanent. Reporting to the Manager Financial Services, this role takes ownership of Council's finance systems, driving performance, usability and control, with Technology One expertise at the core.
Key responsibilities
- Own the administration, security and functionality of Council's finance systems (Technology One)
- Lead system upgrades, including configuration, UAT and end-user training
- Review and strengthen internal control systems and compliance processes
- Manage projects and change processes around finance system enhancements
- Identify opportunities to improve business practices and reporting capability across Council
- Deliver user training, workshops and documentation
- Provide broader accounting support, including journals, reconciliations, budgeting and year-end tasks
- Act as the technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including audit and risk committee
About you
- CA/CPA (or equivalent), or extensive systems experience in an accounting environment in lieu
- Expert knowledge of Technology One Financial Systems (CiA) is essential
- Strong track record in project and change management for finance system implementations
- Advanced Excel skills with strong data manipulation, analysis and interrogation ability
- Sound understanding of accounting standards, budgeting and financial risk principles
- Proven stakeholder management skills, confident presenting to management and audit & risk committees
- A self-starter who can work independently and manage competing priorities
