About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead the delivery of a wastewater treatment plant at a Defence training facility. Funded by the Australian Defence Department, this is a civil-focused scope covering earthworks, concrete, lagoon and liner works, with a specialist mechanical treatment element. You will be the senior person on the ground, supported by a site engineer and foreman, with the Project Manager based in office. This role requires someone who can operate independently, manage a major local subcontractor, and drive delivery with minimal oversight.
The package includes accommodation and a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities of the Site Manager
  • Lead all on-site civil construction activities including earthworks, concrete, lagoon and liner scope.
  • Manage and coordinate a major local subcontractor across all stages of delivery.
  • Drive programme, quality, and safety outcomes on site with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Liaise regularly with the Australian-based Project Manager and report on progress, risks, and issues.
  • Manage a small on-site team including a site engineer and foreman.
  • Ensure all works are delivered in compliance with relevant standards, specifications, and Defence project requirements.
  • Oversee site logistics, materials coordination, and subcontractor interfaces.
What You Can Bring as the Site Manager
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on civil construction projects — earthworks, concrete, or water and wastewater infrastructure background preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage major subcontractors and deliver projects independently with limited on-site management support.
  • Experience working in remote or international environments highly regarded though not essential.
  • Strong programme and site management capability with excellent communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a remote environment with the maturity and self-sufficiency the role demands.
  • Australian working rights.
  • A valid Australian passport.
