This QLD state gov department is seeking an experienced Site Representative to join their Major Projects team. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering complex capital works projects that support vital community infrastructure including education, justice, health, and government facilities across Queensland.
As the Principal’s on-site representative, you will oversee construction activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and contractual requirements.
About the Role
Reporting to the Principal’s Representative, you will provide full-time on-site supervision during the construction phase of major government building projects. You will work closely with project leadership, contractors, and consultants to ensure high-quality delivery and compliance with contractual and legislative standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide daily on-site oversight of contractor activities on behalf of the Principal’s Representative
• Inspect works in progress to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards
• Monitor quality, materials, and workmanship to ensure they meet contract requirements
• Track construction progress against project programs and report on performance and risks
• Support inspection, audit, and testing processes at Practical Completion
• Manage defects identification and rectification processes
• Monitor environmental, health and safety practices on site
• Assist with assessments of work completed for payment purposes
• Attend project meetings and provide technical advice on construction and scheduling matters
• Maintain strong working relationships with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders
About You
You are a proactive and detail-oriented construction professional with strong experience in large and complex building projects. You are confident engaging with contractors and consultants and thrive in a collaborative project environment.
Skills and Experience
• Extensive experience in major building construction projects
• Strong understanding of construction processes, quality standards, and compliance requirements
• Demonstrated ability to monitor construction progress and quality of works
• Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and manage site responsibilities effectively
• Experience with Managing Contractor, Design & Construct, or similar delivery models (desirable)
Mandatory Requirement
• Current Open Driver’s Licence
