Public Sector People are partnering with a local council in Melbourne’s east to recruit a Social Planning & Community Strengthening Officer for a temporary assignment focused on community wellbeing and social development.
About the Role
You will support the delivery of key initiatives responding to cost-of-living pressures, social inclusion, and community resilience. The role works closely with internal teams, community organisation, and local service providers to strengthen partnerships and improve outcomes for residents.
Key Responsibilities
• Project manage council initiatives related to homelessness, housing stress, and food relief.
• Coordinate community events acknowledging significant dates including Pride, IDAHOBIT and Law Week.
• Build and maintain collaborations with local service providers to support resident wellbeing.
• Conduct research and data analysis on council’s health and wellbeing priorities.
• Operate within the scope and responsibilities of local government.
• Manage complex social issues professionally and sensitively.
About You
• Experience in social planning, community development or community strengthening.
• Strong engagement skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work within structured local government frameworks.
• Strong communication, research and analytical skills.
