Our client is a well-backed infrastructure solutions business with deep utility heritage and strong network relationships across the Australian energy sector. Their infrastructure division delivers behind-the-meter and grid-connected BESS, EV charging, solar and high voltage infrastructure projects, with a growing pipeline of sub-5MW distributed energy assets serving C&I customers, local government and utilities. The backing and credibility they bring to market is something most independent players simply can't replicate.
The Role
This is a senior commercial role sitting at the front end of a growing distributed energy strategy. You'll be responsible for originating, developing and closing sub-5MW BESS and hybrid solar and storage projects. This isn't a transactional sale. - Leading commercial negotiations and structuring deals across outright sale, EaaS and managed service models
- Working closely with engineering and delivery teams to develop technically sound, commercially competitive proposals
- Building and maintaining relationships with property owners, developers, councils, water utilities and large industrial operators
- Representing the business at industry events and leveraging an established network where appropriate
- Reporting pipeline, forecasts and market intelligence to senior leadership

- 5 or more years in a commercial, business development or project development role within the Australian energy sector
- Proven track record originating and closing energy infrastructure projects in the sub-5MW range, whether solar, BESS, hybrid or similar
- Experience with EaaS, PPA or managed service commercial structures is highly regarded
- Background in C&I solar and battery EPC, distributed energy development, embedded networks or utility-adjacent infrastructure businesses is preferred
- Working understanding of the NEM, grid connection processes, DNSP relationships and behind-the-meter economics
- Commercially sharp with the ability to build a credible financial case and navigate complex multi-stakeholder procurement processes
- Confident leading customer conversations at executive, commercial and technical levels simultaneously
- Self-directed and comfortable managing a long-cycle pipeline without close supervision
- Genuine interest in the energy transition and the commercial models enabling it
- Strong communicator with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Backed by a major network operator, giving you credibility and access that independent players don't have
- A growing pipeline of distributed energy projects with genuine institutional support behind it
- A commercial model that goes beyond build and handover, you're selling long-term energy infrastructure partnerships
- Strong career development pathway as the infrastructure division scales
