Public Sector People are recruiting for an experienced Systems Accountant on behalf of a Local council. This position is based in the Financial Planning / Budget and Systems unit within the Organisational Services / Financial Services group. The Systems Accountant works to ensure system integrity and business continuity, and is the primary contact for end user queries related to the corporate financial management system.

As the Systems Accountant, you will be responsible for a number of key tasks, including:
- Managing the council's financial management systems, with a focus on implementing and configuring new or upgraded functions.
- Administering the Technology One, Core Enterprise Suite (Financials), including associated responsibilities for Enterprise Cash Receipting (ECR) and Supply Chain (SCM).
- Maintaining the integrity of financial transactions and managing chart configurations, user roles, and access controls.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for system support, which includes troubleshooting and resolving system bugs and glitches.
- Overseeing End-of-Month (EOM) and End-of-Financial-Year (EOFY) system rollovers.
- Collaborating with business units on system enhancements, developing ETL processes, creating interactive dashboards, and configuring ad hoc XLOne reports.
- Reviewing and responding to Jira ticketing system queries and assisting users with system-related issues.
- Developing and maintaining operational documentation, such as policies and procedures, to ensure the system is used correctly.
- Designing and implementing internal system controls to ensure the quality of financial data.
- Investigating and developing system improvements and reporting functions.
We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience:
- Substantial experience managing and administering financial management systems, particularly
- A proven track record of providing high-level technical and user support to both finance teams and the wider business.
- Experience in leading and managing projects, with a focus on customer service.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to a variety of audiences.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
- Mandatory: You must have a degree in Accounting, or a related field.
