Public Sector People are working with a local council to recruit a part-time traffic engineer for a 6-month temporary contract assignment. ⁠

As a Traffic and Transport Engineer, your role is to investigate and resolve traffic and transport issues raised by the community, and internal and external stakeholders and to manage the delivery of small to medium-scale traffic and transport projects, seeing them from start to completion.
  
This will be a 6-month (part-time) temporary contract assignment with a mid May 2025 start date.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Investigating and resolving traffic and transport issues raised by the community, Council and other departments, while delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Preparing correspondence, technical reports and reports to Council for approval by the Traffic and Transport Team Leader.
  • Providing project management advice to the Traffic and Transport Team Leader, and the Transport Engineering Coordinator, to ensure that projects are completed within budget and on time.
  • Liaising and consulting with Council staff, members of the community and service/public authorities and other stakeholders prior to commencement of and throughout the delivery of traffic and transport projects.
  • Preparing concept plans and providing preliminary cost estimates for assigned traffic and transport engineering projects/tasks.
  • Assisting with the implementation of paid parking, including electronic parking systems.
   
Requirements include:
  • Completed studies in Civil Engineering or an equivalent Engineering degree recognised by the Institution of Engineers, Australia.
  • A solid understanding of local government policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Experience working within Victorian Local Government in a related field.
  • Strong customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Skills in managing time, setting priorities and planning and organising own work.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities and able to complete tasks within tight timeframes.
  • A current Victorian drivers license.
