Truck Driver / Recycling Plant Operator

Public Sector People are partnering with a local government client
seeking an experienced Truck Driver / Recycling Plant Operator
to support daily operations across the Logan Waste and Recycling Facilities.
This is a temporary labour hire opportunity
through to January 2026, with potential for extension.
Based primarily at Browns Plains Waste & Recycling Facility, this role may involve work across additional sites including Beenleigh, Carbrook, Greenbank, Logan Village, and the Logan Recycling Market.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and transport vehicles, plant and equipment across multiple sites.
• Operate machinery including self-propelled compactor, dozer, backhoe, loader and MR truck.
• Conduct safe loading and unloading activities in accordance with National Heavy Vehicle Regulations (NHVR) and Chain of Responsibility (COR) legislation.
• Perform site-based duties such as assisting customers, recovering recyclable materials, and maintaining safe exclusion zones.
• Undertake pre-start checks, record daily timesheets, and maintain vehicles and plant to a high standard.
• Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professionalism when liaising with the public and Council staff.
• Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety procedures and participate in relevant training.
- HC Licence – essential for operating heavy vehicles.
• White Card (General Safety Induction – Construction Industry).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to assist with workshop and maintenance tasks.
• Proven experience in tipper truck or truck and dog operations.
• Knowledge of load restraint practices and heavy vehicle transport requirements.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team across varied sites.
• Physically fit and able to meet the functional requirements of the role.
• Forklift Licence (LF or LO).
• Verification of Competency (VOC) in Grader, Roller, Backhoe, Tractor or Excavator operations.
Mandatory Requirements
- Clean driver history report (covering 5 years, dated within the last month).
• Pre-employment functional assessment.
• Current vaccinations: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus and Q Fever (mandatory).
