Public Sector People (PSP) are partnered with a council in the northern suburbs to recruit a Venue Leader for a 6-month temporary contract. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Venue Coordination: Manage and review venue booking requests from community groups, trainers, and internal staff, ensuring efficient use of facilities in collaboration with the Community Centres and Venues Unit.
  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure facilities are well-maintained, fully resourced, and ready to host a wide range of activities, from cultural and educational events to community initiatives.
  • Promotion: Actively promote the council’s venues as ideal spaces for diverse activities, fostering community engagement and participation.
  • Staff Supervision: Oversee on-site venue staff, providing support and escalating issues to the Team Leader Venues and Operations when necessary.
  • Event Supervision: Supervise and manage events, including those held at external locations, ensuring smooth operations and a positive experience for attendees.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement activities that promote the Community Centres and Venues team, along with the services and resources provided.
  • Financial Management: Prepare, manage, and monitor the venue’s operational budgets and financial processes in line with Council requirements, including purchase orders and invoicing.

Key Criteria: 
  • Tertiary qualifications in venue management, facility management, or a related discipline, combined with experience in facility operations; or extensive relevant experience in operations and facility management.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing effective leadership and managing complex relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service to individuals and groups from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
  • The ability to speak and read a community language is highly valued.
