Mudgee, NSW | Full-Time | Operations Leadership Role
Public Sector People are partnering with Mid-Western Regional Council to appoint a Water and Sewer Process Coordinator to lead the operational performance of Council’s water and wastewater treatment assets.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity within Council’s Operations Directorate, ensuring critical infrastructure operates safely, efficiently and in full compliance with legislative and environmental requirements.

About the Role
Reporting to the Water and Sewer Manager, the Water and Sewer Process Coordinator leads the process team responsible for the operation, optimisation and maintenance of water supply and sewerage treatment systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the safe and compliant operation of water and wastewater treatment assets
- Supervising operators and trades teams, providing technical guidance and support
- Optimising plant performance and coordinating maintenance programs
- Responding to incidents, alarms and emergency events
- Managing contractors, budgets and operational planning
This role blends technical expertise, people leadership and compliance oversight, with responsibility across both field and office environments.
About You
We are seeking a technically capable and safety-focused leader with:
- Relevant engineering qualification or significant industry experience
- Experience in water and/or sewer treatment operations, ideally within Local Government
- Strong understanding of regulatory, safety and environmental requirements
- Working knowledge of SCADA/telemetry systems
- Proven ability to lead teams and resolve operational issues
This role will suit a proactive operational leader who thrives in a technical environment, takes accountability for compliance and performance, and is committed to protecting community health and the environment.
Working Environment
This position is a combination of office and field-based work, including exposure to treatment plant environments and outdoor conditions.
The role is full-time, 70 hours per fortnight under the Local Government State Award 2023, with flexibility across a 19-day month.
Participation in an on-call roster and occasional work outside standard hours is required.
