In this vital role, you will work collaboratively across the organisation to strengthen WHS practices, lead risk management initiatives, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of Council’s WHS Management System.
About the Role:
- Develop, implement and monitor Council’s WHS Management System and WHS Strategic Plan.
- Work closely with managers and staff to further embed a proactive safety culture.
- Assist in the creation, implementation and review of WHS procedures and safe work practices.
- Support mandatory WHS training programs and manage training compliance.
- Conduct accident and near-miss investigations, WHS audits and worksite assessments.
- Prepare WHS reports, statistics and contribute to WHS Committee activities.
- Extensive WHS experience
- Proven experience implementing WHS programs in local government or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of relevant WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards.
- Practical experience in risk management and developing risk assessments.
- Experience in WHS training coordination and managing training databases.
- Skilled in incident investigations, WHS inspections and worksite assessments.
