Role
This is a senior-level WHS role, operating as a flexible and hands-on resource to support both business-as-usual activities and the rollout of key safety initiatives.
- Act as the WHS Lead, providing hands-on support for day-to-day operations, including return to work, injury management, safety systems, and compliance.
- Provide expert advice, guidance, and leadership to the Executive, Managers, and staff across all levels.
- Drive the strategic direction and continuous improvement of WHS and Injury Management frameworks, systems, and policies.
- Champion a proactive safety culture and promote employee wellbeing.
- Oversee workplace injury and claims management, ensuring effective early intervention and return-to-work outcomes.
- Engage collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure best-practice compliance, governance, and delivery of WHS outcomes.
- Support the rollout and implementation of new psychosocial safety regulations, gradually shifting focus from operational BAU to project milestones.
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in senior-level WHS leadership, ideally across complex or multi-site environments.
- Strong generalist WHS capability — return to work, injury management, compliance, and safety systems.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, operate independently, and provide confident advice to senior stakeholders.
- Local Government experience is desirable but not essential.
- Candidates must demonstrate strong professional WHS experience and the ability to step into a senior advisory/lead role quickly.
