This QLD state department is seeking three highly motivated and experienced Principal Infrastructure Services Officers! As a Principal Infrastructure Services Officer, you will provide leadership, strategic advice, and technical expertise to support the delivery of infrastructure planning, asset management, and maintenance programs that modernize and optimize Queensland’s school and early childhood facilities.
You will lead or contribute to the development and implementation of policies, strategies, and programs that ensure efficient and effective management of the Department’s substantial asset portfolio, helping to deliver safe, functional, and sustainable learning environments for students and communities across the state.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to high-level planning and implementation of infrastructure and maintenance programs for schools, staff housing, and early childhood education facilities.
- Develop, review, and implement policies, strategies, and methodologies to strengthen asset management and maintenance practices.
- Undertake detailed data analysis to inform investment strategies and continuous improvement in maintenance programs.
- Provide high-level advice and prepare reports, ministerial correspondence, and briefing materials on infrastructure and asset management issues.
- Establish and maintain strong strategic partnerships with internal stakeholders, service delivery partners (e.g. QBuild), and school communities.
- Develop and oversee frameworks for funding allocation, performance management, and program evaluation.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Successful candidate
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to evaluate programs, interpret data, and develop evidence-based policy and planning recommendations.
- Strong Communication and Negotiation Skills – Proven ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, influence stakeholders, and prepare high-quality written materials.
- Asset Management Expertise – Understanding of contemporary asset management, infrastructure planning, and maintenance principles.
- Strategic Planning and Reporting Capability – Ability to plan and manage projects, allocate resources effectively, and deliver quality outcomes.
- Leadership and Team Development – Experience leading teams, building capability, and supporting professional growth.
